Our story begins back in the 7th grade...
Tyler was a Maize native, an eight year continuing student.
Monica was a transfer, a new student,
after moving to a new house in the summer before 7th grade.

Although Tyler doesn't remember it,
we just so happened to have a couple classes together both 7th and 8th grade.
We chatted as classmates and had a number of friends in common,
but we didn't really know each other outside of class.

Freshman year began a different phase as we moved to the high school
and were once again in the same classes.
Tyler got a couple "girlfriends" and Monica became interested in Tyler,
crushing just a little.

Last week of 9th grade
Tenth grade was another year spent as classmates with mutual friends.
Around Halloween we ended up hanging out with three other friends and going to a haunted forest.
After actually hanging out, Monica only crushed harder.
The rest of the year was spent "harassing" Tyler in and out of class.
Eleventh grade followed the same MO, except Monica denied (baha) liking Tyler
and tried to find other boys and friends to fill her time.
We hung out more often as the fab four (Tyler, Monica, Tara, and Jonathan),
most often encouraged by Monica as an excuse to hang out with Tyler!
After being asked to prom by a friend, Monica made sure to include Tyler in dinner plans,
matching him up with Shelby for the night.

Senior year things began to change, just a little.
After forcing Tyler to hang out more often, Tara, Tyler, and Monica
became quite the threesome, spending a lot of time together,
with a little help from Tyler's mom (thanks Donna for forcing him to hang out with us!).
When Senior prom came, Monica just knew that Tyler would ask her to go with him, which he DIDN'T.
So, she made sure to ask him to carpool and instead drove HIM to prom.
We matched quite nicely and took pictures together as if we were dates.
(It came out later that everyone was trying to get Tyler to ask Monica that year.
He claims he was still clueless at the time! Oh brother!)
With senior year coming to a close, the three of us promised to be best friends forever
and planned a summer together before we all went to separate universities in the fall.

Senior Prom
The summer after senior year is where it all comes together!
Hanging out as a group of three happened less and less, for various reasons.
Tyler and Monica decided to still hang out, going to see Star Trek at the movie theater as their first hangout together!
Still friends (although we might as well have been dating), we hung out almost every night,
going to the park, sitting in the driveway talking, and just walking around.
At the beginning of July, Tyler and Monica went on a trip to KC with a few friends.
It ended up being more like an unofficial double date,
even though Tyler and Monica refused to mention liking each other.
After staying up most of the night talking, Tyler left the next day to Canada.
While in Canada, we chatted a little, but being international made it difficult.
Immediately after, Tyler went to "Smelly Camp" for a week in Minnesota with no cell phones.
We were excited to text at the end of camp! When Tyler got back home,
a planned trip for three turned into the two of us going to the Drive In.
After getting back late and chatting, Tyler finally asked Monica to be his girlfriend!

The last almost four years has been filled full of school, work, vacations,
live shows, new experiences, getting to know each other more,
ups, downs, and everything in between!

After all that time, we finally took the plunge!
On Tax day, of all days, Monica woke to find a love note written on her mirror.
After not thinking much of it, she went to leave and found yet another note in her car.
Later that day, she found a surprise Sonic drink in her car before class,
and after class, bunches of red cut-out paper hearts thrown all throughout the car.
After eating Chick-Fil-A for dinner and watching TV most of the night, Tyler wanted to leave the house.
At 9:30, we showed up in Tyler's driveway. Confused, Monica was chattering and tired.
After being sat down in a lawn chair on the driveway with a blanket, he
explained that we were reminiscing on the days before we started dating,
and attempting to star gaze through the clouds.
Tyler finally got down on one knee and popped the question!
Of course, she said "YES!"
